USM Faculty First Week 2021 has ended
NOTE: Please sign up only for the events you plan to attend. Space is limited.

The Office of the Provost and the Center for Faculty Development (CFD) welcome faculty and staff back to campus for a kick-start for the semester. Faculty First Week (FFW) is a dedicated time for the campus community to prepare for the upcoming semester through workshops and presentations from fellow faculty and staff on campus. Faculty First Week includes convocations, college and school meetings, presentations and updates on campus processes and support systems, professional development, and social events. The New Faculty Orientation is embedded in FFW, and we look forward to welcoming new members to our Southern Miss community.

The theme, Hybridity: A New Normal, focuses on the opportunities and possibilities revealed through the parameters of the Covid-19 pandemic. As we move into a new hybrid academic environment, what processes will we keep from the primarily online world of the pandemic? This year’s FFW centers on sharing ideas for class engagement and course design, effective practices for service and committee meetings, and approaches to research within a hybrid environment.

Please register for the individual events you plan to attend so we can manage venues for presentations, order refreshments and supplies, and track participation and feedback.
